Fra producenterne bag de Emmy belønnede Batman-tegnefilm kommer her et spændende eventyr med verdens mest berømte superhelt: Superman. Kryptons sidste søn. Den unge Clarck Kent har overlevet den fjerne planet Kyptons endeligt og vokser op på Jorden. Han er i besiddelse af superkræfter, som han sværger at bruge til gavn for sin nye hjemplanet. Clark flytter til storbyen Metropolis og bliver journalist på avisen Daily Planet - og rival til stjerne-reporteren Lois Lane. Han skaber sig også en fjende i rigmanden Lex Luthor, som muligvis har mere at gøre med tyveriet af en hypermoderne kampdragt, end han lader vide. Det er op til Clark Kents alter ego Superman at bekæmpe hensynsløse terrorister og forhindre Luthor i at slippe dette dommedagvåben løs.
